LECTURES

Week 6: Mr Martin talked about digital photography, the different camera lenses and shutter speeds. Everything to do with the camera that affects the different effects of the captured photo.

Week 7: Mr Martin taught us how to create digital imaging by substituting one's body part with another image to look like a cyborg.

Week 8: Independant Learning Week

Week 9: Mr Martin taught us how to edit and mask a human face by adding flowers around to make it seem like the flower was growing from the face.

TASKS

Research 01:

1a. What is Poster Design?

The act of developing a visual representation of a message or idea that will be printed in big scale is known as poster design. In addition to advertising, posters may also be used for art, education, and promotion. Typography, graphics, and pictures are frequently used in poster design to communicate a message or elicit a certain feeling or reaction from the spectator. A thorough grasp of the intended audience and the goal of the poster, as well as careful consideration of elements like colour, layout, and font, are all necessary for effective poster design.

1b. What is good poster design?

A well-designed poster combines text and images in a thoughtful arrangement that successfully conveys a message or concept to the audience. A successful poster will draw in viewers, effectively convey the desired message, and leave a positive impression.

1c. What is a photographic poster? What is an illustrated poster?

A photographic poster features a photograph as its main visual element. This photograph can be of anything from a landscape to a person to an object, and the photograph is usually printed in a large format to create an impact. The photographic poster is often used to promote events, products, or services and is a popular form of advertising. An illustrated poster, on the other hand, features an illustration or graphic design as its main visual element. The illustration can be hand-drawn, computer-generated, or a combination of both, and it can depict anything from a scene to an abstract concept. Illustrated posters are often used in the art world, to promote movies or plays, or as educational tools.

Research 02:

2a. What is Double Exposure?

When two or more photos are combined or layered in a single frame, it is called a double exposure. The outcome is a composite image made up of components from each of the original photographs.

2b. What is Digital Double Exposure?

The process of digital double exposure involves combining or superimposing two or more digital photos to produce a single composite image. Usually, picture editing programmes like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP are used for this. When merging photos, digital double exposure offers more freedom and control.

Project 2A: Double Exposure

Before beginning the process of the double exposure project, I started to do some research to get an idea and some inspiration.

I then selected a picture of myself to use for the project. I resized it as well as made some masks and lighting changes to suit the overall design better.

I first selected the subject and created a mask to add in elements that I wanted, which were the forests.

I masked the forest onto the subject and added lighting changes that I had learned from a previous tutorial that Mr Martin taught us. I also added some clouds and birds.

I masked another image onto my subject to show more variety in the exposure. and did some final touch ups before finalizing it.

Project 2B: MyTiger SDG Poster
I chose the category climate change to make my SDG poster. Before I began, I did some research on Pinterest and came up with some ideas.

I decided to create a effect where the harmful factories grew on the polar bear as a start.

I masked and warped the factories onto the polar bear to have it grow around the shape of the polar bear. I then added more effects such as smoke and fire to the factories.

After making changes to the lighting and different effects for each layer, I shortlisted a few designs before finalizing it.

I decided to incorporate both and keep the realistic white colored artic to match the overall poster. I also added some textures to make the poster look more realistic and roughed up.

Feedback:
Week 7: My initial design was completely different and Mr Martin said it does not have any photoshop elements that were taught included, hence I completely started from scratch again with the polar bear.

Reflection

Experience: I really enjoyed the practices from the double exposure as I learned a ton that could be implemented into my own project. The different masks and warping were difficult at first but after a few tries I managed to complete it. Creating the poster was just as fun. Although the setback caused me a little frustration, but I am more happy overall with my final design.

Observation: I observed the different techniques my friends used to create their poster and I took some advice and implemented it into my own.

Findings: Creating this project made me realize what I was lacking in my photoshop skills. I brushed them up through tutorials and videos on YouTube as well as adobe's FAQ page.
